Character/Theme- Dominick Scialabba

The character that i am most drawn to would be Mr. Hyde. I think Mr. Hyde single handedly bring a different type of presence to the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He is such a mysterious and unruly character that just always bring a thought in my head that says "What is going to happen now," every time he is even mentioned in the story. Mr. Hyde also helps a theme in the story. He helps the theme of Good and Evil. He shows how evil can walk the border of good and evil and cause chaos on all good. For example, Mr. Hyde can interact with of people (the good) like the little girl in the first chapter and completely alter there lives. This may not be one of the most powerful examples but i think it really shows how Mr. Hyde impacts the story and helps the theme.

  1. I also think Mr.hyde is one of the characters that draws your attention the most. It also does make me think what is going to happen next when he is mentioned in the book. I would also say that Mr Hyde does play a huge role in the theme of the book. I can say that my blog is similar to your blog and i could really relate to it.

  2. Mr. Hyde is, undeniably, a very mysterious and appealing character. Your veiw on his role in the theme of the novella is logical as well, although, i disagree with your idea of Hyde. He trampled the girl in the beginning, which at first impression makes the reader think he is this terrible monster. But considering Jerkyll's situation, i believe he may have been in a rush to get to the lab or something of that sort. Society immediatly attacks Hyde and tattoos the word evil on his forehead, simply because of his appearence. R.L. Stevenson draws a lot of attention to the character to get the theme across and show the cruel mentality of people. Contrarily, great blog and your perspective on the novella is really intelligent.

  3. I also feel Mr.Hyde was a character I was drawn to. I realized as I read the story anytime Mr.Hydes name was brought up I staightened up, clenched my jaw, and was prepared for something devious to happen.I also wondered what was to happen next. In my opionoin good and evil plays a huge role in the theme. Without good, there would be no evil. Without evil, there would be no good. We need both of them to make our world balanced. Without Mr.Hyde, the story would be like a picture book without color, boring, and mundane.
